Stellantis says parts shortage may cause more Fiat production halts in Italy
Stellantis says a supplier’s shortage of an electronic component for an engine control unit disrupted production of Fiat models in Italy and weighed on October sales, particularly for the popular Pandina. The shortage could prompt further production stoppages in November and December at Pomigliano, where the Pandina is built, and Mirafiori, which makes the Fiat 500; engine-component operations at Termoli could also be affected. Stellantis and Fiat are seeking alternative supplies and say they are working to restore normal operations. Mirafiori is already in a three-week stoppage tied to a separate component shortage, with unions also citing weak Fiat 500 demand as a factor.
