Spotify outage leaves users unable to log in or search music

On September 29, Spotify users mainly in the U.S. and U.K. hit widespread problems on the app and desktop. DownDetector reports rose sharply around 9:45-10am ET, topping 15,000 U.S. filings by about 10:06am ET and 18,443 by 10:24am ET; U.K. reports passed 3,600 at one point, and Metro cited 4,060 complaints. Affected features included search, non-downloaded playlists, login, and Spotify Connect. Users saw “Couldn’t load the page, try again” and “Something went wrong.” Some deleted and reinstalled the app or restarted phones and still could not log in or play downloads; one said they hoped their account was not ruined. Spotify’s status account said it was aware and checking issues but gave no cause or timeline. A 9to5Google report said ongoing playback were less affected, and some users regained access via desktop. CONTESTED: none identified. No full-restoration time or root cause was confirmed in the record.
