Anthropic IPO Prospectus Shows Revenue, Heavy Losses
OpenAI is reportedly seeking about $30 billion from investors at a valuation above $1.4 trillion, with SoftBank, MGX and other existing backers said to be in talks ahead of Anthropic’s possible November 2026 IPO. Anthropic’s draft IPO prospectus reports $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier, and an $80.7 billion net loss; about $72 billion of the loss came from non-cash accounting adjustments related to convertible financing, while infrastructure spending reached nearly $9 billion and the company faces large long-term computing commitments. Anthropic’s IPO valuation could reach $2 trillion, though some investors reportedly favor about $1.5 trillion amid questions about costs and growth. Separately, Anthropic is advancing a draft federal bill that could allow courts to block an AI model’s release if independent assessments find an imminent risk of at least 50 deaths or $1 billion in property damage; unlike California’s SB 53, the threshold would trigger a possible release ban rather than disclosure requirements.
