Anthropic has opened a U.S. waitlist research preview of Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent for iOS, Android and the web, powered by its Opus 5.5 model and aimed at Claude Pro and Max subscribers. Duet provides daily briefings, monitors connected apps for items needing attention, and can perform tasks such as scheduling, building forecasts and creating web apps, including continuing work in the background. It connects to more than 6,000 services, including Gmail and Slack, and sensitive actions require user approval. Usage counts toward subscribers’ existing limits, and Anthropic says it checks connected accounts periodically to conserve usage. The company warns that Duet may misjudge urgency and is less effective at some personal tasks, as it competes with agent offerings from OpenAI and Meta.
