Tensor, MTZ Plan Up to 500 German Robotaxis

Tensor Auto and Munich taxi operator Münchner Taxi Zentrum (MTZ) have signed a letter of intent to deploy up to 500 autonomous taxis in German cities, subject to final agreements and Level 4 regulatory approval. MTZ would run the service under its own brand and existing dispatch system, retaining control of fleet operations, customer relationships and ride data, while Tensor supplies the vehicles, autonomous-driving technology and related services through a subscription model. The partners aim to place 10,000 additional vehicles with European fleet operators within 24 months of the Robocar becoming available in Europe, and will explore private sales in Germany. They disclosed no financial terms.
