Thousands Run 51st Marine Corps Marathon
Thousands of runners took part in the 51st Marine Corps Marathon, which started in Arlington, wound through Washington and finished near the Marine Corps Memorial in Rosslyn. Marine Corps Maj. Kyle King won for the third consecutive year and fourth time overall, while Kaylee Slade won the women’s race. Cool, sunny conditions made for a favorable race day, with temperatures near 40 degrees at the start and rising through the morning. Organizers introduced timed start corrals this year, and road closures and bus detours affected Arlington and the District; Metro opened early to accommodate the event.
