Airbnb is tightening its house-rules policy, effective Nov. 20, to stop hosts from requiring labor-intensive checkout chores such as washing dishes or taking out trash, while allowing limited reasonable requests and making rules easier to find. Separately, Birmingham, Michigan, voted to ban short-term rentals after disruptive parties and safety concerns; existing licenses will remain valid until April 15, 2027.
