Trump drops Bombardier ban threat over Kansas jobs
President Donald Trump told a campaign rally Monday night, Oct. 19, 2026, at Heartland Credit Union Arena in Park City, Kan., that he will help Bombardier get straightened away and take care of its people and jobs there. He said he always viewed them as a Canadian company but now finds they have a presence in Kansas. He cited a phone call from Sen. Roger Marshall. Bombardier employs about 1,500 workers in Wichita and roughly 3,500 across the United States. On Sept. 7 he posted there would be no more selling Bombardier in the United States unless it built here and stopped treating America like a piggybank. Bombardier has said the American aerospace industry is a clear winner on trade and exports, that it pays more than US$2.5 billion yearly to about 2,800 American suppliers across 47 states, and recently announced a $50 million investment in Wichita. Marshall faces a tight re-election race against Democrat Adam Hamilton; Kansas has not elected a Democratic senator since 1932. Trump also said he is going to take care of Bombardier. Canadian Press accounts put Tuesday's share gain near 3% around $320; Reuters reported a 4% rise.
