Turek Rallies Siouxland Voters in Tight Iowa Senate Race
Democrat Josh Turek and Republican Ashley Hinson made final appeals to Iowa voters ahead of a closely contested U.S. Senate election, with both emphasizing affordability and the strain of rising costs on families. Turek campaigned in northwest Iowa, saying rural voters are especially affected by policies involving tariffs, the Iran war and health care, while Hinson focused on the cost of gas, groceries, housing, health care and child care. A New York Times-Siena poll had the candidates effectively tied, and Kalshi’s event market briefly put Turek ahead, 52% to 48%; an earlier BetOnline snapshot still favored Hinson. The race has drawn added attention as a potential Democratic pickup, while local election officials reported unusually high early-voting activity.
