Turkish Airlines finalizes 100 firm Boeing 737 MAX orders plus 50 options

Turkish Airlines finalized a Boeing order on September 23, 2026, for 100 firm 737-8 jets and options on 50 additional 737 MAX aircraft, up to 150 total. Deliveries run from 2033 through 2037. The carrier holds substitution rights for the 737-10. The narrowbody package is estimated at more than $30 billion at list prices. Murat Şeker said the agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of the fleet and that the new aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to operations from the Istanbul hub. Stephanie Pope said Boeing is proud to continue its support of Türkiye's aviation ecosystem. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the signing. The order follows 2025 U.S.-Turkish government talks and a separate 2025 deal for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Turkish Airlines and AJet currently operate more than 200 Boeing aircraft; ch-aviation lists 42 B737-8s and 5 B737-9s at Turkish Airlines. CONTESTED: none found on the firm count, options, dates, or list-price estimate. Ahmet Bolat told Reuters last year that if CFM came to feasible economic terms the airline would sign with Boeing, and that if CFM continued its stance it would change to Airbus, adding that with Airbus he has choices. Outlets describe that CFM engine-pricing dispute as the main obstacle before the Boeing deal closed. Whether all 100 firm jets go only to the mainline carrier or also to subsidiaries was not disclosed.
