Union Pacific's First Female CFO Plans Early 2027 Retirement
Union Pacific said on October 16, 2026, that Executive Vice President and CFO Jennifer Hamann will retire in early 2027 after nearly 35 years at the railroad. She joined in 1992, became CFO in January 2020 as the first woman in the role, and will keep her duties until she leaves. An SEC 8-K under Item 5.02 and a press release (Exhibit 99.1) carried the news; Christina B. Conlin signed the filing. CEO Jim Vena said she led with integrity and heart, guided finances through historic challenges, executed strategy, mentored leaders, and never said yes unless it was right for the company. Hamann called the CFO role an honor, thanked family, friends and colleagues, and said she remains an ardent supporter of the merger with Vena and the team leading. She previously worked in finance, HR, marketing and sales, investor relations and corporate audit; sponsored LEAD; served on boards including TTX, Grupo Ferroviario Mexicano and Steel Dynamics; and received a Woman MAKE Award. Succession details are unresolved; the company said it will announce more later.
