United Flight Returns to Las Vegas Over Security Concern
United Flight 1681, traveling from Las Vegas to Newark, returned safely to Harry Reid International Airport shortly after takeoff after a crew member reported a passenger security concern. Some reports said a flight attendant saw a text message indicating the passenger intended to hijack the plane; authorities have not publicly confirmed that account or said whether anyone was detained. Law enforcement met the aircraft, and no injuries were reported. The flight was delayed overnight because the crew reached its duty-time limit, and passengers continued to Newark the following morning.
