Trump Administration Seeks Court Reviews of Multiple East Coast Wind Permits
The Trump administration is asking courts to return federal approvals for several East Coast offshore wind projects to the Interior Department for reconsideration, including New England Wind off Massachusetts, Revolution Wind serving Rhode Island and Connecticut, and Maryland’s US Wind project. Officials cite possible harms to fisheries, research, coastal views, protected species and other ocean uses; the Maryland request would allow review without immediately revoking the project’s approval. The efforts extend the administration’s push against offshore wind, even as courts have blocked earlier attempts to halt construction and Revolution Wind has begun supplying electricity. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse warned that targeting the projects could undermine a bipartisan Senate permitting deal, while Connecticut officials have raised concerns about energy reliability and investment certainty.
