Postmaster General Reportedly Tells Confidants He Wants to Resign

Postmaster General David Steiner has told confidants he is deeply discouraged and wants to resign as the U.S. Postal Service faces major financial losses and political pressure from President Donald Trump over mail-in voting. Steiner reportedly believes the White House and Congress have not provided enough help to address the agency’s long-term financial problems. Tensions intensified after Trump directed USPS to play a central role in processing mail ballots, a plan the Supreme Court recently blocked in key respects. Steiner was also angered by a contentious Senate hearing focused on delivery problems, voting restrictions and his compensation. USPS denied the report, saying it had “absolutely zero validity.”
