Veradermics Reports Hair-Loss Drug Meets Phase 3 Endpoints
Veradermics said its Phase 3 Study 304 of VDPHL01, an investigational extended-release oral minoxidil for male pattern hair loss, met all primary and secondary endpoints in 536 participants. At six months, average hair-count gains were 28.6 hairs per square centimeter with once-daily dosing and 36.4 with twice-daily dosing, versus 6.6 with placebo; patient-reported improvement was also higher in both treatment groups. The company reported no treatment-related serious or cardiac adverse events of special interest, though peripheral edema and excess hair growth were among the reported side effects. The results add to positive findings from Study 302, while longer-term data from that trial and results from a study in women remain pending; the drug is investigational, and no head-to-head comparisons with other hair-loss treatments have been conducted. Veradermics shares rose after the announcement.
