Victim’s Relative Accused in Phoenix Courtroom Attack

During the sentencing of Abel Uribe for the 2022 killing of Army veteran David Navidad-Parra, the victim’s father-in-law, Alberto Ontiveros-Sanchez, allegedly punched Uribe several times after speaking to the court. His attorney said Sanchez became upset after seeing Uribe laugh or snicker; the outburst forced the judge to clear the courtroom and pause the hearing. Sanchez was arrested and charged with assault and court-related offenses, then released with conditions. Uribe, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of release after 25 years, along with a consecutive term for kidnapping.
