Volkswagen, Audi Recall 208,000 SUVs Over Steering Defect

Volkswagen is recalling nearly 50,000 2025 Tiguan SUVs in the United States because faulty body-control-module software can reset while driving, shutting off the ignition and potentially disabling power steering, exterior lights and airbags while increasing crash risk. The company is also recalling 208,724 older Volkswagen Atlas and Tiguan SUVs and Audi Q3 crossovers because corrosion can cause a right-side steering-rack mounting bolt to break, potentially fracturing the rack housing and causing a loss of steering control. The second recall covers 2018 Tiguans, 2018–19 Atlases and 2019–21 Audi Q3s; dealers will replace the affected bolt at no cost, with owner notices expected to begin Nov. 10. Volkswagen and Audi said they were not aware of crashes, injuries or deaths linked to the steering defect in North America.
