Lightning Delays Alabama-Florida State Start and Clemson Game Again
Lightning delayed the start of the Alabama–Florida State matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with no immediate restart time announced after officials cleared the field during warmups. Alabama entered 2-0 and heavily favored, while Florida State sought an upset after a 1-1 start and last season’s 31-17 win over the Crimson Tide. Clemson’s game against North Carolina was also suspended with 8:31 remaining, marking the Tigers’ third consecutive game affected by lightning. North Carolina led Clemson 17-15 and was driving at the Tigers’ 8-yard line when lightning was detected within eight miles of Memorial Stadium, triggering at least a 30-minute delay that could be extended by further strikes.
