Tornado Confirmed Near Deming; Arizona Warnings Issued

A tornado was confirmed west of Deming, New Mexico, on Monday evening, moving east toward the city at about 25 mph. The storm brought golf-ball-size hail, torrential rain, flooding, and reported damage to roads and property; flooding and downed power lines led to highway closures and impassable roads. Authorities urged residents to shelter in sturdy buildings away from windows. Separately, tornado warnings were issued early Wednesday for parts of Arizona’s Coconino and Yavapai counties as another round of storms moved through northern Arizona.
