Communities Plan Ceremonies Marking 9/11 Anniversary

Communities across the United States and Ireland will hold ceremonies on Sept. 11, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and honoring those killed, their families, and people affected in the years since. Events include flag displays and a memorial gathering in Bend, Oregon; ceremonies featuring artifacts from the Twin Towers in Streetsboro and Ravenna, Ohio; an interfaith prayer service at St. Nicholas National Shrine in New York; and a remembrance Mass at Long Island’s Cemetery of the Holy Rood. Waterford, Ireland, will also host a public ceremony reflecting on the attacks and their lasting impact. Several events will include religious services, music, first responders, veterans, and opportunities for families and communities to grieve together.
