Yuna Aoki Takes Short-Program Lead at Grand Prix de France
Japan’s Yuna Aoki took the women’s short-program lead at the Grand Prix de France in Angers, scoring about 76.2 points despite a shaky opening combination. Georgia’s Anastasiia Gubanova was second, while Olympic bronze medalist Ami Nakai placed third after her opening triple axel became a single; she recovered with the rest of her program. Canada’s Gabrielle Daleman finished 11th in the 12-skater field. In ice dance, Olympic champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron led after the rhythm dance, nearly five points ahead of Georgia’s Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin despite a time-violation deduction.
