ZoomInfo: Small Firms Drop Point Solutions Fourfold
ZoomInfo found that firms with fewer than 100 employees are dropping point solutions at four times last year's rate after reviewing software adds and drops across 229 categories from mid-2024 to mid-2026. At small companies, the gap between point-solution and system-of-record drop rates reached 24 percentage points. Quarterly drops rose from 1,700 to 9,900 for live chat, from 700 to 7,200 for help desk, and from 900 to 9,300 for marketing automation. At the smallest companies, point-solution drop share rose from under 1 in 10 to 1 in 3, and the drop rate halves at 50 staff and halves again at 1,000 staff. Roughly $2 trillion of software company value has moved this year on the claim that AI is killing SaaS. Salesforce says nine of the ten largest AI companies use Salesforce and Slack and that their spending rose 435% in a year. At Salesforce's Dreamforce conference, attendees discussed AI's effect on SaaS tools, and booths reportedly showed AI agents layered onto existing systems of record. No factual disputes among outlets were identified in available coverage. Whether the same point-solution pattern reaches large companies remains unresolved.
