The Trump Organization and the PGA of America announced they reached a settlement.
The settlement comes almost a year after the PGA said it was moving the championship event away from the former president’s New Jersey golf course following the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, as Politico reported.
As the outlet notes, the Trump organization entered a legal dispute with the PGA after the contract was canceled.
“The Trump Organization’s contribution to the golf community is appreciated. We are thankful the company employs hundreds of dedicated PGA Professionals and consistently gives back to the golf community through hosting charitable events and sponsoring junior golf programs,” the PGA said in a statement.
The organization also called Trump’s golf course “a major championship-worthy golf course.”
Eric Trump, son of the former president and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, reacted to the settlement in a statement.
“We have great respect for the work of the PGA. Over the past 20+ years, we have enjoyed working with the PGA to deliver to our club members and the public some of the greatest golf experiences anywhere in the world. We look forward to continuing to support the mission of the PGA and its Professionals, who are the best in the golf industry,” Eric Trump said.
Former President Trump called the settlement a “wonderful conclusion for all,” adding, “Thank you to the PGA of America!”

PGA of America President Jim Richerson said following the attack on the Capitol, “It’s become clear that conducting the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster would be detrimental to the PGA of America brand and would put at risk the PGA’s ability to deliver on many programs and sustain the longevity of our mission.”
More than 700 people have been charged with participating in the riot.
