‘It Is Really Troubling’: Clinton Claims the GOP Has Become a ‘Cult’ That Pledges Allegiance To Trump

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is slamming Republican officials who continue to support former President Donald Trump and says she believes they are acting like a cult. 

During an interview with The Washington Post on Monday, Clinton addressed the fact that members of the Republican Party continue to embrace Trump.

“It is really troubling to see the Republican Party turn themselves into a cult and basically pledge allegiance not to the United States of America but to 👤Donald Trump,” Clinton said.

Still, she said, “I’m hoping that the Republican Party will find its soul, will find its center again and understand that they can’t keep playing with fire.”

Clinton claimed that Republicans thought they could “control” or “use” Trump to “take over the Supreme Court” or “recklessly cut taxes.”

“So, I hope that the Republican Party catches up with the rest of the country,” she added.

Clinton’s comments come after Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said there is a “dark side” associated with Trump, but also some “magic there.”

“What I’m tryin’ to do is just harness the magic,” he said, adding, “To me, 👤Donald Trump is sort of a cross between Jesse Helms, Ronald Reagan and P.T. Barnum.”

Graham also claimed that Trump could “make the Republican Party something that nobody else I know can make it” or “destroy it.”

Clinton is not the only one who has warned Republicans against continuing to embrace the former president.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) has warned the party against continuing to support and praise Trump as he said, “If we idolize one person, we will lose. And that’s kind of clear from the last election.”

Despite Republicans losing the White House, the Senate, and the House in less than four years — the first time that has happened in almost 100 years — Graham has argued that Trump is the “hope of the future of conservatism.”
