Twitter is restoring another prominent figureās account, the latest in a recent string of such decisions.
On Monday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted from her Congressional account, āIām the only Member of Congress the unelected big tech oligarchs permanently banned.ā
āOn January 2, 2022, they violated my freedom of speech and ability to campaign fundraise crying ācovid misinformation,ā she continued.
She added, āMy account is back. Go follow @mtgreenee for MTG unfiltered ;)ā
In January, the Georgia Congresswomanās personal account was suspended for ārepeated violationsā of its COVID-19 misinformation policy.
In a statement to The Hill, a Twitter spokesperson said, āWeāve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy.ā
At the time, Greene called the social media platform an āenemy to America.ā
The suspension was supposed to be permanent.
However, it has been reversing such decisions in the wake of billionaire Elon Musk taking over the company.
On Friday, Twitterrestored the satirical Christian site The Babylon Beeās account.
And on Saturday, Musk announced a major decision involving former President Donald Trump and the social media platform.
In a tweet, he wrote, āThe people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated.ā
āVox Populi, Vox Dei,ā he added.
The announcement comes after Musk posted a poll asking whether Trump should be reinstated on the platform. By the time the poll had closed, there were more than 15,000,000 million votes.
Nearly 52% said the former president should be allowed back on the platform, while 48.2% said no.
