3M Recalls 53,600 Laminators After Five Reported Fires
3M is recalling more than 53,000 Scotch thermal laminators, model TL1302Z, sold on Amazon from June 2024 through September 2026, because they can overheat and catch fire. The company and federal regulators have received 63 reports of smoking, melting or overheating, including five fires and one report of minor property damage; no injuries have been reported. Owners should stop using the laminator, unplug it, register for the recall online and submit a photo showing the machine and its cut power cord to receive a refund by check. Recalled units should be disposed of according to local electronics-recycling rules.
