Tour Bus With Philippine Travelers Overturns in Bavaria, Killing Two

A tour bus carrying Filipino passengers veered off the A96 near Buchloe in Upper Bavaria around 6 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2026, and overturned at the forest edge, killing 2. The Italian-operated coach was en route from Milan to Munich for Oktoberfest, which began eight days earlier. No other vehicle was involved. About 35 people were on board; the two drivers were unharmed and the one at the wheel was an Italian national. Martin Cornils, spokesperson for the Fürstenfeldbruck Traffic Police Department, said: "This was a private tour group on its way to Oktoberfest." Emergency crews airlifted six injured by helicopter, one in critical condition, took two by ambulance, and treated 22 at a triage center. A spokeswoman for the Upper Bavaria North Police Headquarters said: "Of course, it's a big mess at first, and it's difficult to establish the facts." Officials added: "We still need to determine the exact number." She said: "The priority right now is the rescue operation and providing care for the people involved in the accident" and "The district attorney's office has commissioned an accident analysis report to determine the cause of the accident. It's far too early to comment." Contested: injury totals differ across reports and early passenger counts of 40-50 plus a Zurich-Milan route were later revised.
