Bitdeer buys 200 Texas acres, aiming to scale Milam County power capacity

Bitdeer Technologies Group completed a roughly $100 million cash acquisition of about 200 acres in Milam County, Texas, adjacent to its Rockdale facility, to underpin AI and HPC data-center expansion. The Milam County assets now total roughly 255 acres with about 563 MW of interconnected capacity and plans to scale to 742 MW, strengthening Bitdeer’s operational control and eliminating lease-renewal friction. The company emphasized that owning the land provides control over development timelines, though details on interconnections, water rights, tenants, budgets, or financing for specific AI/HPC loads were not disclosed. The acquisition situates the site within about 70 miles of Austin and aligns with Bitdeer’s strategy to finance and develop AI/HPC infrastructure at the Milam County locations. Industry coverage noted that the transaction removes a principal constraint on site development, while KBW cautioned that it remained unclear whether all interconnection and water rights transfer with the parcel. Bitdeer also indicated that the Rockdale location could gain additional power allocations in the coming years due to its established transmission and substation infrastructure.
