Kerr Wins Ultimate 1,500m Title in Budapest

Great Britain’s Josh Kerr won the men’s 1,500 meters at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, surging into the lead on the final lap and finishing in 3:29.35. Australia’s Cameron Myers placed second, while American Hobbs Kessler took third and Olympic champion Cole Hocker finished fourth in a season-best 3:30.74. Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who won the 5,000 meters earlier in the meet, withdrew from the 1,500 because of fitness concerns following Achilles surgery. Kerr, who extended his season after setting a mile world record and winning other major titles, earned the $150,000 first prize.
