76-foot spruce cut in upstate New York heads to Rockefeller Center

The 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, a roughly 75-year-old, 76-foot Norway spruce from West Edmeston, New York, was cut down and is being transported about 200 miles to Manhattan, where it is expected to arrive Nov. 7. After installation, it will be decorated with more than 50,000 LED lights and topped with a 900-pound Swarovski star. The tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 2, and the tree will remain on display through Jan. 9, 2027, before being milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
