Romania sets 5,055-meter table record to fund pediatric psychiatry unit
About 20,000 people gathered in Bucharest around the 5,055-meter “Uniting Table,” helping set a Guinness World Record for the longest table made from recycled materials. The interconnected tables stretched from Unirii Boulevard to Constitution Square, in front of the Palace of Parliament, and were decorated with flowers and snacks. Organizers said funds raised will support a planned 3,900-square-meter pediatric psychiatry facility at Bucharest’s Obregia Hospital. The Metropolis Foundation estimates the project will cost €16.5 million and says the new facility could serve more than 5,700 children with severe mental illnesses each year, replacing an outdated and overcrowded unit.
