Apple Unveils First Foldable iPhone, iPhone Duo

Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, at its Sept. 9 event, replacing the company’s flat-screen design with a book-style device that folds to roughly passport size and opens into a tablet-like display. The phone features a titanium frame, redesigned hinge, under-display camera, Touch ID, Apple Pencil support and software optimized for its larger screen. Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro lineup with an A20 Pro chip, variable-aperture main camera, new modem, longer claimed battery life and an updated Dynamic Island supporting multiple Live Activities. The company launched AirPods 5 with improved noise cancellation and redesigned internals, along with the Apple Watch Ultra 4, Watch Series 12 and Watch SE 3, which feature upgraded health sensing and the S11 chip. Analysts expect Apple’s entry to accelerate growth in the still-niche foldable-phone market, where Samsung and Chinese manufacturers currently lead.
