Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max but Skips Standard Model

Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with U.S. prices starting at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively; preorders open September 12 and sales begin September 18. Both models use a 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip and a vapor-cooling chamber three times larger than the previous generation to improve sustained performance and thermal management. Their cameras include a 48-megapixel main sensor with a six-blade mechanical variable aperture, expanded manual controls, improved low-light imaging, and new video and editing features. Battery life reaches up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max, with faster wireless charging, storage options up to 2TB, a smaller Dynamic Island, and black, silver, glacier, and burgundy finishes. The phones ship with iOS 27, including context-aware Siri and on-device Apple Intelligence features, with advanced capabilities using on-device models and private cloud computing; an English beta launches initially, with additional languages planned. Apple has not announced a standard iPhone 18 model, making the launch focused on its premium lineup.
