Waymo Launches Robotaxis in 15th U.S. City
Waymo has begun offering paid, fully autonomous robotaxi rides to the public in Las Vegas, making the city its 15th U.S. market. The rollout starts with dozens of electric Ojai minivans in a limited area around the Las Vegas Strip and will gradually expand its fleet, coverage and customer access. The launch followed approval from Nevada transportation regulators, which also authorized Tesla and Uber to operate autonomous-vehicle services in Clark County. Waymo’s entry intensifies competition with Zoox, already operating in Las Vegas, as well as Tesla, Motional and other companies preparing rival services.
