No. 2 Minnesota edges UMD 3-2 in OT

No. 2 Minnesota defeated No. 13 UMD 3-2 in overtime in the teams’ series opener, after the Bulldogs erased an early two-goal deficit. Bella Fanale scored twice in the first period for Minnesota; UMD freshmen Laini Gnetz and Renée Lapointe answered, with Lapointe tying the game in the final minute before Ava Lindsay scored the winner in overtime. UMD entered the matchup without as many as five players away for the IIHF Women’s World Championship, putting added responsibility on its younger players and testing the team’s depth.
