US Voters Across Parties Fear America’s Direction
Early ballots are being cast in the 2026 midterms that will determine control of Congress and key state offices, governors' offices and legislatures in the final two years of President Donald Trump's administration. Shane Dunn, 65, cast his first-ever ballot in Levittown in the Philadelphia suburbs. Samontae Mwangi, 20, and Gathenya Mwangi, 19, voted for the first time in Topeka, Kansas, alongside their grandfather Lynn Henderson, 68. Contested: Arthur Horner said after dropping his mail ballot in Harrisburg, "I saw my vote today as trying to put the brakes on just the madness." Elizabeth Marlett, a cattle rancher who voted in Sioux City, Iowa, said, "Family values are going by the wayside, and they need to be brought back," and "Our liberties have been stomped all over. Religion has been stomped all over. And I believe we in the majority need to step up and stop being silent." Linda Markle, after voting in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, said, "He's just destroying us," and "I am so afraid for this country."
