ICE arrests 201 across Alabama, Illinois
ICE reported arresting 180 people during a five-day operation in four counties in northwest Alabama, with local agencies assisting; the agency said some had prior criminal convictions or arrests and multiple prior deportations. In separate operations in Springfield and Peoria, Illinois, from October 26 to 28, DHS said ICE arrested 21 people, citing final removal orders and criminal histories that included serious violent and sexual offenses, though it did not identify those arrested or clarify whether everyone had a criminal history. A local immigrant-services organization had reported at least 10 detentions, and DHS denied reports of an arrest at a Springfield pediatric rehabilitation clinic; those arrested are in ICE custody and, according to DHS, will receive due process.
