Savannah Officer Fired Over 983 ICE Plate Searches
Savannah police fired officer Amber Harpe after finding she gave her login credentials for the department’s Flock license-plate reader system to her husband, an ICE agent who lacked his own account. Investigators linked her account to 983 searches involving 97 plates across six states from January through July 2026; records indicated that most vehicle owners associated with a large group of the searches were Hispanic. The department said the access violated its policy, and Savannah does not share its Flock data with ICE. The case has intensified scrutiny of who can access automated license-plate databases and how the technology is used in law enforcement and immigration investigations; reports say ICE is investigating the agent’s conduct, while Harpe was not charged criminally.
