Alabama Freshmen Face Opener Injury Uncertainty

Alabama will open its 2026–27 season against Sam Houston with freshman Jaxon Richardson available but under a minutes restriction, while fellow freshman Anderson Diaz is doubtful with an elbow injury. The Tide will also be without guard Aden Holloway, who is serving the final two games of a suspension. Coach Nate Oats has identified rebounding as a major concern despite Alabama’s taller roster, saying the team needs more consistency from its big lineups and key frontcourt players. Defensive improvement, physicality and finding effective rotations remain important questions as the team begins the season.
