Russian strikes kill two across Ukraine

Russian strikes killed at least two people in Ukraine overnight into Sunday, Sep. 27, 2026. A man was found dead in Kyiv after a Russian drone hit a non-residential building. Another drone struck a vehicle repair shop, causing a fire firefighters battled into Sunday. Oleh Kiper said Odesa region strikes killed one and injured two. Maxim Pukhov said a Ukrainian strike in Enerhodar killed a civilian woman and injured two others. Sergey Lavrov met Johann Wadephul on UNGA sidelines in New York at Wadephul's request, believed the first since 2022. Lavrov said Wadephul "simply reiterated his official position condemning Russia" and "You can judge for yourself whether that counts as dialogue or not." A German official said Wadephul tied better relations to Russia ending the war. Donald Trump said "You know what I want him to do? Make a deal" and "I want him to settle with Putin and I want Putin to settle with him." Volodymyr Zelenskyy said "Washington is pushing for a three-way meeting involving delegations from the US, Ukraine, and Russia, with officials holding technical talks in that format without the countries' leaders." Russian Defence Ministry claimed strikes on logistics centers, ports, transport infrastructure, communications centers and vessels in Kyiv, Odesa and Mykolaiv oblasts; Ukraine has not commented. Front-line positions largely unchanged since last year. Contested: ministry target claims without Ukraine comment; no other disputes found.
