Ukraine Intelligence Reports Russia’s $177 Billion War Budget
Nobel Peace laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk accused President Donald Trump’s diesel-supply deal with Moscow and sanctions relief of helping finance Russia’s war, arguing that additional oil revenue could support attacks and cause civilian deaths. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, meanwhile, backed Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil refineries, saying oil income helps fund the invasion and pressure should be directed at Moscow rather than Kyiv. Separate figures released by Ukraine’s military intelligence estimate Russia’s 2026 national defense budget at 12.1 trillion rubles, with broader war-related spending reaching nearly $177.4 billion. The reports also describe funding for Russia’s defense industry, weapons research, computing infrastructure and drone procurement.
