Ukraine Says Starlink Service Has Stabilized
Ukraine said Starlink and its military-grade Starshield satellite connections had returned to useful, stable speeds after roughly 10 days of restrictions that disrupted frontline communications, logistics and drone operations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said restored service would help Ukraine counter Russian drones, while the defence ministry reported speeds above 400 km/h; testing continued, and officials did not confirm that every restriction had been lifted. The slowdown reportedly capped speeds at about 160 km/h, hampering interception efforts and forcing some missions to be cancelled. Elon Musk said Ukraine had used the civilian service for offensive drone strikes in violation of its terms, while accounts of who controlled or ordered the restrictions remained conflicting; Zelenskyy thanked the United States and other partners for helping restore service. A U.S. senator also opened an investigation into Ukraine’s reported loss of Starshield access and Defense Department alternatives.
