UK PM Says Putin Won’t Attend 2027 G20

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be invited to the G20 summit in Manchester in November 2027. Burnham cited UK sanctions on senior Russian officials, saying that despite technicalities in the G20’s invitation process, Putin will not be able to attend while the sanctions remain in force. Russia remains a member of the G20, whose host countries traditionally invite all members, but Western governments have sought to isolate Moscow since its invasion of Ukraine. Burnham also described the summit as an opportunity to strengthen ties with China and advance cooperation on AI safety.
