Ukraine Launches Major Attack on Moscow, Russia

Ukraine launched one of its largest drone and missile attacks of the war against Moscow and other Russian regions during the final day of Russia’s parliamentary elections. Russian officials said air defenses intercepted more than 1,100 drones nationwide, including roughly 450 approaching Moscow; strikes damaged the Moscow oil refinery, logistics facilities and residential buildings, killed two people and injured about 20. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the operation targeted oil and military-supply infrastructure that finances Russia’s war effort, while Moscow accused Kyiv of trying to disrupt the elections. Russian strikes on Ukraine’s Kyiv region later killed four people, including a mother and her two three-year-old children, damaged 31 sites and reportedly hit railway infrastructure and a monastery. Ukrainian officials also reported 230 Russian assaults along the front line, with the heaviest fighting near Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka.
