Zelenskyy appoints Kovalskyi acting prosecutor general

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Anton Kovalskyi as acting Prosecutor General by decree No. 946/2026 on September 17, following the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko, which Parliament approved. Kovalskyi previously led the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor’s Office and earlier served as deputy head of the Vinnytsia office and head of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The leadership change followed a contentious dispute involving allegations Kravchenko had approved notices of suspicion against National Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Semen Kryvonos and an associate of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office chief; Kryvonos and anti-corruption agencies disputed the allegations and said the notices had not been served.
