Acton Wins Ohio Governorship After 20-Year Democratic Gap
Ohio governor-elect Amy Acton says her administration will pursue an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy and put guardrails on data centers to protect residents from bearing their electricity and water costs. She also wants to attract businesses and jobs to communities that have fallen behind, and has said online gambling could help fund services and lower living costs if paired with strong protections against predatory advertising and harm to young people. Acton criticized a campaign ad featuring her estranged mother and said she has no intention of speaking with her opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy. She is scheduled to take office on Jan. 11, 2027, and reports put the governor’s annual salary between about $152,000 and $176,000.
