Mann expected to become Kansas attorney general

Democrat Chris Mann defeated incumbent Republican Kris Kobach in Kansas’ attorney general race, winning a close rematch of their 2022 contest. A former police officer and prosecutor, Mann campaigned on public safety, consumer protection and law enforcement, and said the office should focus on legal matters affecting Kansans rather than political disputes. He also received a rare Democratic endorsement from the Kansas Fraternal Order of Police, which cited his commitment to public safety and law enforcement. Mann is set to take office in January 2027, becoming the first Democrat to hold the position since 2011.
