McCann Defeats Huizenga, Flipping Michigan House Seat
The Associated Press called Michigan’s 4th Congressional District race for Democrat Sean McCann, who defeated eight-term Republican Rep. Bill Huizenga by fewer than 7,000 votes, winning about 50.1% to Huizenga’s 48.3%. McCann’s victory flipped the seat from Republican to Democratic control. McCann, a longtime public servant in the Kalamazoo area, said he would focus on helping families and solving problems. The result came amid broader Democratic gains in the midterm election that flipped both chambers of Congress.
