Missouri Senate races bring historic flip, GOP win
Republican Lori Rook defeated Democrat Sean Falconer to win Missouri Senate District 20, an open seat covering parts of Greene County and several surrounding counties. In Springfield’s District 30, Democrat Betsy Fogle defeated Republican Melanie Stinnett, winning about 58% of the vote and flipping a seat Republicans had held for more than 80 years. Fogle’s victory, alongside Democrat Keri Ingle’s win in Jackson County, broke the Republican supermajority in the Missouri Senate. The costly District 30 contest featured sharp disagreements over voter-approved ballot measures, paid sick leave and abortion policy, as well as competing messages on affordability and fiscal management.
