Trump Attacks Fox Over Election Day Coverage

On election night President Donald Trump posted a series of Truth Social messages attacking Fox News polling and coverage. A Fox exit poll found 87 percent of respondents concerned about gas prices, 62 percent blaming Trump's policies, and his approval at 38 percent, similar to CBS News and CNN figures. Trump called the FoxNews Poll insulting and every question a hit job, said ratings were down 27 percent from covering Democrats, claimed it was them not him, and cited a CNN poll showing 99 percent support among Republicans and Trump at 53 percent among Republican presidents versus Reagan at 18 percent and Lincoln at 8 percent. He questioned Fox Corp donations to Hakeem Jeffries, Jamie Raskin, Ted Lieu, Pete Aguilar, and Democratic party committees and PACs. He said he could not stand Jessica Tarlov's voice, called her dumb as a rock, and would watch elsewhere until she was off; he texted Greg Gutfeld live and Gutfeld read the message on air. Tarlov responded on social media. Jesse Watters spoke on air about bracing for possible loss of the Senate. Republicans held the House 218-214; Democrats needed a net gain of three seats. Contested: Trump blamed the 27 percent ratings drop on Fox being against him and covering Democrats; Nielsen-sourced reporting confirmed a 27 percent total-day decline to about 1.1 million viewers and a 32 percent drop in the 25-54 demo to 98,000. Trump called the poll a hit job; Fox's October survey by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research of 1,202 registered voters showed 36 percent approval and 64 percent disapproval. The outburst came as midterms threatened Republican control of Congress.
